Continuing their 20-years-and-counting trek of ambient explorations, Michigan space drone sweethearts Windy & Carl return with We Will Always Be, their fifth full-length for Kranky following a three-year break after 2008's Songs for the Broken Hearted. The extended melting sonics of We Will Always Be found their beginnings as a collection of recordings Carl worked on solo and presented to Windy as a Valentine's Day gift. The two fleshed out these loving compositions to their fullest potential in collaboration, resulting in radiant guitar washes and some of the most up-front vocal performances of the band's history.
