  • As the triple billing of R. Carlos Nakai, William Eaton, and Will Clipman suggests, this album presents a meeting of Native American flute, various guitars, and percussion. The album title is also suggestive, especially in the word "silence," since the music and the arrangements of it leave plenty of space. As to dancing, "swaying" might be more like it. The tracks present delicate, considered playing by the three musicians, with some chanted vocals occasionally, but this is much more music for contemplation than for movement. Things get as lively as they ever will on "Horses in the Rain," but "Havasupai Lullabye" immediately follows, as if to recover and rest after all that exertion. Mostly, this is a calm, cooperative outing for the trio, whose fans will appreciate its subtlety and detail. ~ William Ruhlmann
