About the Author

GERRY DALY is a children’s author and illustrator living by the beautiful sea in Dublin. He hasn’t seen any whales from his window, but saw many off the coast of West Cork. His previous books include the best-selling Where Are You, Puffling? and Wee Donkey’s Treasure Hunt, both written by Erika McGann and also published by The O’Brien Press. He loves to paint birds and animals, from the tiniest to the biggest of them all.

Erika McGann grew up in Drogheda, County Louth, and now lives in Dublin. She is the author of many books including The Demon Notebook (winner of the Waverton Good Read Children’s Award), the ‘Cass and the Bubble Street Gang’ series. She wrote the Where Are You, Puffling? stories and Wee Donkey’s Treasure Hunt (all illustrated by Gerry Daly), The Night-time Cat and the Plump, Grey Mouse (illustrated by Lauren O’Neill) and Standing On One Leg Is Hard (illustrated by Clive McFarland).

Reviews

a lovely Irish tale … This picture book is beautifully illustrated; you could spend days admiring it. It’s a story that is close to home, based on the well-known islands off the Kerry coast. It has a fun interactive element for the young readers, where they can spot and point out where puffling is hiding on each page. This sweet book is available in English and as Gaeilge

We think this book is for children age 4 to 6. But the illustrations are really nice so maybe a 7 or 8 year old would enjoy looking at this book and reading it for their younger brother or sister. We give this book 10 out of 10 - By Cathal (6, Junior Infants) & Odhran (8, Second Class), St. Joseph’s NS, Tullamore

From the moment I set eyes upon this beautiful book, its bright, beautiful, colourful and exciting cover enticed me to quickly jump into and explore its tale. My favourite part was following Puffling’s brave yet fun trek around Skellig. Although this book may be aimed at younger readers, I am ten years old and I loved it. I would recommend this book to anyone who is young at heart, has a love of wildlife and enjoys stories that include good morals. “Every day is a good day to have an adventure”
