Tapan Munroe is a nationally-known economist with expertise in the areas of regional economics, banking, and high-tech industry analysis. He was the Chief Economist for Pacific Gas & Electric. A visiting scholar, adjunct professor, and department chairman at a number of prestigious universities worldwide, he also earned the Kiriyama Distinguished Professorship for Asian Economies at the University of San Francisco. As a widely-published author and popular speaker, Tapan has been a frequent commentator on regional and national radio and TV, including KRON-TV and KGO-TV (San Francisco), CNBS (Los Angeles/New York), Dow Jones Investors Network, and Bloomberg News Service. He's been a columnist on economic issues for the San Francisco Examiner and for The Journal of Corporate Renewal. His Global Village column runs bi-weekly by the Contra Costa Times and related Media News Group papers. He currently resides in the San Francisco area.
