His authorship is renowned for its detail and clarity, and he has written or contributed to many books, articles, journals and papers, including past volumes of Warship. He is ably assisted as Editor by Stephen Dent, also an experienced scholar in this field, and editor of Conway's The War At Sea in Photographs, 1939-1945.
