Like a CAT scan of an organ, urban tomography documents metropolitan life by sampling and compiling multiple slices of a city. Using photography and audio recording, urban planning expert Martin H. Krieger scans contemporary Los Angeles to illuminate different aspects of a community, from work to worship.
Martin H. Krieger is Professor of Planning at the University of Southern California's School of Policy, Planning, and Development. He is the author of several books, including What's Wrong with Plastic Trees? Artifice and Authenticity in Design.
"Martin H. Krieger is an imaginative thinker and a leader in taking
advantage of technology. His Urban Tomographies is a well-paced,
clearly structured book that outlines new approaches to recording
views of the city and that will be important for future research
and teaching."
