Reviews

Lyn Coffin has been a poet and translator for many years, often working in the shadows and margins of American literary culture. I welcome this long overdue Selected Poems, and I hope it will attract a broader-and much deserved- audience for this unique poet. -Sam Hamill I have read Lyn Coffin's newest book twice through and I loved it. The poems have the unique quality of being both emotionally raw with frayed nerve ends and finely crafted at the same time. Truth becomes naked in exquisite detail laced by rhyme and attention to language without presenting answers or resolution to pain and conundrum. -Judith Roche A word must tremble once touched with the hands of anxiety and longing, danger and wonder-- all that forms our sensibility. That trembling word breaks the eggshell of common language and enters into the cosmos of Poetry. Lyn Coffin's constant search to touch the sensibilities of foreign languages and beings, her wonder and anxiety, bring a voice to American poetry that embraces us with the open arms of many nations. East and West, far and near, mingle in a cry, the cry of a word to be reborn and yes, here, page by page, we can observe the rebirth of words. -Mohsen Emadi "Lyn Coffin's poetry takes us, sometimes even within a single verse, from the unexpected to the sublime. Imagery and ideas, music and playfulness: very seldom do we find a poet as fresh and, at the same time, as solid as Coffin. A real revelation." --Enrique Servin
