Father Christopher Rengers, O.F.M. Cap., was born in 1917 at
Pittsburgh. In 1936 he became a Capuchin novitiate in Maryland, and
finished professing his vows four years later. He was ordained in
Washington, D.C. in 1942, and taught four years at St. Joseph
College in Kansas before spending fifty years on various
assignments through parish work. He is the author of The Youngest
Prophet, Mary of the Americas, Words from the Cross, and They
Played in Calvary s Drama. His work has also appeared in magazines
such as Soul, Priest, and Pastoral Life.
Father Rengers was very interested in the doctors of the Church,
and admitted that writing on them made a big impact on his life.
His recent activities include hearing confessions at the National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and doing ministry work in
nursing homes.
