All At Sea Authors of the popular Sell Up and Sail (five editions), the Coopers have been living aboard boats for more than 30 years. Their experiences have been ocean-going and, as this book illustrates, on rivers and canals. They write of waterways in general, describe the various types of motor cruisers, workboats, or narrowboats, where to find them and what to look for. They give advice on building or converting, surveying, power and heating, essential equipment, maintenance and, of course, living aboard, and everything that that entails. Learn about barge handling, canal systems, locks and waterways in many countries, and heed the warnings on the risks and dangers of such travel. It could save you embarrassment; it might even save your life. There are several 'interludes' in the book, such as 'Dining in Burgundy,' 'The River Shannon,' or 'The Intracoastal Waterway of the USA,' which offer insights into just a handful of places they have visited. Pictures and delightful sketches support a writing style that is laid back, almost like a family chat at times, making for a very useful and quite enjoyable read.
