About the Author

D. Grant Black's Saskatchewan roots run deeper than a caragana shrub: his paternal great-grandparents emigrated in 1884 from Scotland's Hebrides to Wapella and his Scots-Irish maternal great-grandparents arrived in 1905 from southern Ontario to homestead near Rosetown. Born in Lucky Lake and raised in Saskatoon, this veteran writer, editor and travel journalist has worked in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan and he freelances for The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Toronto Star, Canadian Geographic Travel, Western Living, The Beaver, Ski Canada, Air Canada's enRoute and The Financial Post (dgrantblack.com). Black continues to travel out of Canada yet he still loves exploring his native province. When he's not on the road, he's writing or gardening in Wakaw near Saskatoon where he lives with writer Patricia Robertson and their border collie, Laddie.
