About the Author

ROBERT H. COWDEN is founding Chair of the Music Program for the California State Summer School for the Arts and Professor of Music at San Jose State University. His recent books include Classical Singers of the Opera and Recital Stages: A Bibliography of Biographical Materials (Greenwood, 1994), Opera Companies of the World: Selected Profiles (Greenwood, 1992), Instrumental Virtuosi: A Bibliography of Biographical Materials (Greenwood, 1989), and Concert and Opera Conductors: A Bibliography of Biographical Materials (Greenwood, 1987).
