Reviews

Praise for The Orange Grove "This is a tale of the innumerable tragedies of war--bereavement, brainwashing, aftermath--told with the lyricism of an epic parable or fairytale, one the reader will not soon forget."--Publishers Weekly Winner: Prix des Libraires du Que'bec Prix litte'raire des colle'giens Prix litte'raire des enseignants (AQPF-ANEL) Prix roman & Prix des lecteurs du Salon du livre du Saguenay Lac St-Jean Prix coup de coeur des Irre'sistibles "Writing as sober as it is convincing... an essential book."--Chatelaine "The Orange Grove acts as a detonator of conscience and can leave no one indifferent." --L'actualite "A novel which denounces the absurdity of war. The luminosity of the text, which is extremely poetical, contrasts with the horrors of his subject."--La librairie francophone | Radio-Canada "In a literary world which is fueled by easy emotion and writing ravaged by sentimentality, Larry Tremblay keeps the rigor of a true artist who knows it is only emotion that matters..."--Zone occupee "The willing simplicity of [Tremblay's] writing recalls the story of Cain and Abel or the parable of the prodigal son... With The Orange Grove, Larry Tremblay gives us a novel we ought to read...not once but twice."--Chantal Guy, La Presse "A fluid and troubling fable; a subtle and fine poetry."--Marc Cassivi, La Presse "A must read!"--Telejournal Radio-Canada Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean "[A] real literary punch."--Stanley Pean, Le libraire The Orange Grove is a work of great topicality that should be read with the heart of a child and the conscience of an adult.--Impact Campus "With a poetic pen, the author presents a fable on identity, filiation and lies. A story at once hard and touching which is devoured in an evening."--Coup de pouce "Another novel about war...but exceptional because of the purity of the writing... A little jewel, finely chiseled. Perhaps the best Quebecois novel of 2013."--Elle Quebec "This moving account is served by writing of perfect restraint and crisp strokes."--Lettres quebecoises "It's a very lovely book which is brutal... inhabited...haunted, truly superb."-- Sorj Chalandon, Prix Goncourt nominee "The Orange Grove tugs at the heart and, even though very current, carries all the qualities of a timeless fable."--Bible urbaine
