«Right in the middle of the Cold War, the U.S government decided to put on a show. It featured amazing feats of engineering and science, but – most importantly – it played on all the television networks. The trip to the moon is a fascinating story of the confluence of technology, politics, journalism, and the American soul – a story Harlen Makemson tells with meticulous research and narrative grace.» (Robert Thompson, Director, Bleier Center of Television and Popular Culture Syracuse University)
