Donald Gardner's first published poem was in the Paris Review in 1963 and he has been writing and performing poetry ever since - in London, New York and Amsterdam. His first book, Peace Feelers, was published in 1969 and this was followed by For the Flames in 1974. He is known for his translations of Latin American poetry, such as Octavio Paz's 'Sun Stone'. He has lived out of England much of his life, moving to Holland in 1979, where he works as a freelance translator.
