About the Author

HELMUT FRIEDEL is director of the Stadtischen Galerie in Munich. He has published numerous works on German art. ROBERT STORR is a professor at New York University. He is the author of a comprehensive monograph on Gerhard Richter and will be the artistic director of the 52nd Biennale in Venice, Italy.
