Emma Larkin is the pseudonym for an American who was born and raised in Asia, and who studied the Burmese langauge at the School of Oriental and African studies in London. She has been visiting Burma for close to 15 years. Her previous book, Secret Histories: Finding George Orwell in a Burmese Teashop, was published by Penguin Press US and John Murray in 2005.
