A specialist in the literature and culture of slavery and abolition, his publications include articles in the British Journal for Eighteenth-Century Studies and The Age of Johnson. MARKMAN ELLIS is Reader in Eighteenth-Century English Literature and Culture at Queen Mary, University of London.
