Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she's the best - but she doesn't know if she's good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, only one thing is clear - failure is not an option ... even if the task she's been set is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad. The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other ... and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn't destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just may. Because when archangels play, mortals break ...

An amazing new vampire series from a US bestseller.

About the Author

Nalini Singh was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. She spent three years living and working in Japan, and travelling around Asia before returning to New Zealand now - although she's always plotting new trips. She has worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher, not necessarily in that order. Some people might call that inconsistency, but she calls it grist for the writer's mill. You can learn more by visiting or by following @NaliniSingh on twitter.

Brillant concepts and highly addictive! These books are a great read with charactors that are dark broody and oh so bad!! The more you read the more you want to read! Nalini has put a spin on the standard Vampric fables and twists it brilliant with Angelic beings who co exsist with us mere mortals Elena is a strong capable woman a hunter who is thrown into a world that challenges everthing she believes and why? for love of course! Ive read this and the phy changling series and they are keepers on my bookcase!!! You will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED with this series.

Nalini Singh seems the opposite to L&P – world famous, but not in New Zealand. A bit of research shows she’s been in NYT best seller lists; nine books in her Psy-Changelings series and soon to be three in the Guild Hunter series, plus a few others. She lives in Christchurch, has not a bad blog and a good website (warning – DO NOT go on this at work. J)

It’s been my “bus book” for a few days but I will admit to burning part of dinner last night as I had to finish it and know what happened. Cue protests from the kids. Overall, a solid 4 stars. Love how it’s in our world (like the Dark Hunter series, it’s a recognizable place, in this case, New York City), good plot, well written, leaves a bit to the imagination – I’m rushing onto book two now. And in case you were wondering, now that I've read this I get where LA Weatherly got her Angel idea from. But you already know how I feel about THAT book...

The Guild Hunter series is my new obsession.
I was getting so sick of all these new books coming out that were
just slight variations of eachother, shallow characters and a storyline to match.
Which is why I was so pleasantly surprised to come accross this series. It was like a
breath of fresh air. All the characters are interesting and have a backstory. They have depth
and a distinct personality. Even the minor characters are important and not just put there to fill
the gaps. Elena is a Hunter, a vampire hunter to be exact. Her and the Archangel Raphael start to build
a confusing yet intamate relationship after Raphael chooses Elena to help them track down a rouge Archangel.
Raphael, an immortal, actually acts like an immortal, the same goes for the vampires. There is no fluffy spewing of emotions and feelings. The immortals are cold and cruel, some don't even look human, but something more. This made me happy, as it was probably one of the best depictions of an immortal being that I have read, it takes time for them to connect emotionally to mortals, humans, to understand their motives and why they act how they act. The Angels and older vampires do not act with emotions but with their head. They do not interact and have not interacted personally with humans for thousands of years.
Nalini Singh pulls us into a world that is both exciting and frightening.
I can't wait for Archangels Consort, counting down the days!

This is a new series by Psy/Changeling author Nalini Singh, and this initial book is brilliant. Actually I like the Changeling books more, character-wise, but still this is a superb novel, much grittier than the other series.. Elena Deveraux is hunter-born, which means genetically able to scent and track rogue vamps. See, the vamps are made by Angels, and contracted for a century. When vamps break that contract the hunters bring them back. What happens, however, when an angel goes rogue? Make that an Archangel, and you have big problems. Archangel Raphael, cold and sometimes cruel, summons Elena to track the rogue Archangel [lots of blood and guts, so be warned], and finds himself oddly attracted to this tough little mortal. Yes, there is sex and romance, but it is only a small part of this truly excellent story, and once again Sing builds a believable and unforgettable world.
