About the Author

Kenneth Sillander is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the Swedish School of Social Science, University of Helsinki. He studied anthropology at the University of Helsinki and has done fieldwork among the Bentian of Indonesian Borneo. Research interests include social organization, religion, and ethnicity. Pascal Couderc studied anthropology at the EHESS, Paris. He has done extensive fieldwork among the Uut Danum of West Kalimantan. His main research interests are oral epics and death.
