Joan D. Lewis is professor of teacher education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she directs the graduate program in gifted education for the University of Nebraska system. She has published articles on a variety of topics and speaks frequently at local, state, national, and international conferences in the areas of alternative assessment, gifted girls, public relations and advocacy, and uses of technology in education. Dr. Lewis' most recent research focuses on the impact school principals have on gifted education. Her work with local and state associations in gifted education has spanned more than 25 years.
Frances A. Karnes is professor of curriculum, instruction, and special education at The University of Southern Mississippi. She is widely known for her teaching, research, publications, innovative program developments, and service activities in gifted education and leadership training.
