About the Author

LISA KANIUT COBB worked as a freelance technical editor and writer for twenty years, while raising her three children. After working as a volunteer, teaching art education and writing, Lisa obtained a master's degree in Creative Writing from the University of Denver. Her love of the theatre and her experiences in the classroom led to the writing program in her new book, Literary Ideas and Scripts for Young Playwrights. Her students enthusiastically tackled the exercises, confirming Lisa's belief that this approach to teaching writing is hugely successful. She lives in Denver with her family. Reviews

?After reading this book, the reader will be inspired to work with a group of students to create and perform different types of theater. Recommended.?-Library Media Connection

?An excellent resource for a teacher who wants to expose students to a variety of literary genres while at the same time immersing them in creative writing. ...At the root of Cobb's method, of course, is a notion that is at the heart of good teaching at all levels. Skilled teachers build on the familiar, introduce new but related concepts, and then allows students the freedom to experiment with what they have learned. In this regard, we can all learn from Lisa Kaniut Cobb.?-The Quarterly of the National Writing Project
