say it to kids. Her ultimate goal is to make a positive difference
in the lives of children, parents and educators by teaching
lifelong problem-solving skills to kids. Julia has received the
Association for Educational Publishers Distinguished Achievement
Award, and her books have been honored by the National Parenting
Center and Mom's Choice Awards. Julia has presented in more than

"...RJ is a boy who has trouble finding the right thing to say when
others give him compliments or constructive feedback. Using many
familiar examples and interaction situations, RJ is taught the
following suggestions: "When somebody GIVES you a compliment, the
BEST thing for you to do, is to LOOK at the person, use a nice,
pleasant voice, and simply say, 'THANK YOU.'" The second suggestion
is "When somebody GIVES you feedback, they're helping to IMPROVE
who you are. LISTEN to the person, and say 'OK.' Their words just
might take you far. Make sure that when you listen you LOOK at the
one who is talking to you. STAY CALM on the inside, no matter what
is said. Then carefully THINK it through." Using ideas coming from
these two key suggestions, RJ is able to improve his soccer game,
get his schoolwork done on time, and show all his homework steps in
math to prove he is not cheating. "Thanks for the Feedback...I
Think!" is a practical kids self help book that many adults could
also benefit from. Amusing, nonjudgmental language and pictures
help keep the message clear and positive throughout this appealing
self help for boys and girls age 7 and up." - Children's
Bookwatch
"Julia Cook knows just how to write so that ADHD kids will listen.
My son loves these books and wanted all of them. It has been the
best investment in our ADHD therapy plan. She clearly "gets it" and
understands what the world looks like to an ADHD kid. The stories
asses the challenges without being preachy and give specific and
direct "rules" to follow, to concur each challenge they address.
They benefit ALL kids (and adults) and are good for the entire
family to know and follow." - T.J. Wright, Amazon
"What a wonderful book for children, parents, and educators!
Accepting feedback is often a difficult skill for children. This
book shares one young man's struggle with accepting compliments as
well as criticism, while teaching appropriate responses that are
socially acceptable and will enhance relationships. I highly
recommend this book for all educators!" - Tara Eckstaine, M.Ed.,
