About the Author

The Reverend Malcolm Laing was a gifted storyteller - both in Gaelic and in English. His fourteen Gaelic short stories were all broadcasted on BBC radio between 1954 and 1967, and were read by him under the title Sgeul Na H-Aon Oidhche. They also appeared posthumously in Gairm between 1996 and 2002. When Gairm ceased publication in 2002 after fi fty years, there was a gathering to celebrate its achievements. Professor Donald Meek chose Malcolm Laing's story Is Math an t-Annlan an t- Acras as the best prose he had read in Gairm.
