Reviews

Phill Gatenby and Andrew Waldon have written a book that brings long-forgotten memories flooding back and is incredibly emotional. Obviously, the tragic story of John Bookbinder will have you reaching for the tissues, but there are other moments that had me welling up. Some players had their dreams cruelly ended by City, including John, while no matter how many times I read about Paul Lake's experiences, it always has me holding back the tears. Phill and Andrew tracked down all the City players involved in the Youth Cup triumph. And the book covers all the years in City's history in which these players were involved. This is a must for any City fan, but it should also appeal to anyone with an interest in the beautiful although sometimes ugly game. - 2013 Jewish Telegraph
