About the Author

Dr. Sanjay Garg is a numismatist of international repute. He obtained his Ph.D. in History from the Jawaharlal Nehru University and a Diploma in Archival Studies from the National Archives of India, New Delhi. Author of several books and research papers, Dr. Garg was also a recipient of the Charles Wallace Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Museum, U.K. (1998); Resident Fellowship at Centro Incontri Umani (Socio-Cultural Centre), Ascona, Switzerland (2009); Robinson Visiting Scholarship at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, University of Oxford, together with the Kraay Visitorship at the Wolfson College, University of Oxford, UK (2010). Dr. Garg has served the National Archives of India for 24 years and is at present heading the Research Division of the SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo. He is also the Executive Editor of the SAARC Culture and Editor of the Numismatic Digest.
