Reviews

It has been suggested that Scotia in the Medieval period was an impoverished backward land, teetering on the very edge of the 'civilised' world. If ever a publication gave the lie to this, Virginia Glenn's marvellous book does just that. Here we see the material wealth of the novels and churchmen, and let us not forget that these are just those objects which survived the shipwreck of time to eventually rest in the national collection.Historic Scotand
