"A classic author revisited! A new and more comprehensive picture
of the work of Selma Lagerlöf emerges as leading scholars from a
range of European countries and the U.S. explore her oeuvre,
developing innovative perspectives and exploring previously
neglected contexts of her work." --Professor Annegret Heitmann,
University of Munich
"The work of Selma Lagerlöf has been eagerly consumed throughout
the world. Re-Mapping Lagerlöf enlists the expertise of
international scholars in the task of tracing Lagerlöf's literary
impact and plumbing the depths of her apparently simple, but
enormously sophisticated texts. Especially in the wake of her
recently released correspondence, there is much that remains to be
learned about the first woman to win the Nobel Prize for
Literature, and this book is an important step in that direction."
--Professor Susan Brantly, University of Wisconsin-Madison
"This important volume is a welcome reminder of Selma Lagerlöf's
central position in world literature. With its many-facetted and
innovative contributions, it will be an indispensable tool for
Lagerlöf scholarship for years to come." --Professor Lisbeth
Larsson, University of Gothenburg
"This is a volume which will make an important contribution to a
vibrant and fast-developing field of research. The international
reputation of Selma Lagerlöf's works has received added impetus in
recent years, not least thanks to the efforts of the three editors
of this volume; yet there is a lack of scholarly research on her in
English. Her life and her writings provide fascinating material for
the study of self-presentation, cultural transmission, gender and
genre. The availability of new and more accurate translations,
together with the planned launch of a major research project on
Lagerlöf in Europe, make this an ideal moment to present a range of
new perspectives by an impressive group of international scholars."

literature, University of East Anglia
