About the Author

Graeme Kennedy was Professor of Applied Linguistics from 1982 until his retirement in 2004. He was director of the English Language Institute from 1982 - 1993, director of the Deaf Studies Research Unit from 1994 - 2001, and director of the New Zealand Dictionary Centre from 1997 to 2004.
