U.S. Marine Logan Thibault carries a picture of a woman he's never met because it brings him good luck. But when he sets out to find the woman, he is met with unexpected circumstances surrounding his new love and his shrouded past. Though not Sparks's most original tale, the story flows well and narrator John Bedford Lloyd delivers a solid performance. Lloyd's deep bass tone is perfectly suited for Thibault, a manly man if ever there was one. Lloyd's supporting characters are rich and interesting in their own right, some speaking in comical Southern drawls, others with a raw reality. The Lucky one starts off with Logan in Iraq. Logan is a U.S. Marine stationed in Iraq fighting the war on terrorism.
Out on a run at dawn, Logan finds a photo of a beautiful young lady. He starts carrying the photo around in his pocket and finds himself with good luck.
Jump ahead a few years and Logan is now back on American soil and he is searching for his “lucky lady.”
His search takes him to Hampton, North Carolina where the lives of 3 people are intertwined.
Logan, Elizabeth (Beth) and the Deputy Sheriff in town Keith Clayton.
Logan and Clayton get off on the wrong foot and little does either of them know but their lives will be changed for ever.

I found this book wonderful, the way the chapters were told in each characters narrative and I just want to say Mr Sparks, you finally got it right. I loved the ending.
