Commissioned to write his first book in 2003, a 512 page volume on the history of US military vehicles, David Doyle has since published over 100 books. While most of these concern historic military hardware, including aircraft and warships, his volumes on military vehicles, meticulously researched by David and his wife Denise, remain the genre for which he is most recognised. This recognition reached its pinnacle in 2015, when he was presented the coveted Bart Vanderveen Award by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, given in recognition of the individual who has contributed the most to the historic preservation of military vehicles worldwide.
David Doyle takes a close look at the Panzer 1, which formed the
backbone of the German army's tank divisions and gave them such an
edge during the first years of the war. Brilliantly
illustrated.

For the modeller, these Ampersand titles are a real boon in terms
of real-life crew modifications and inspiration for diorama
vignettes.
*Miniature Wargames - Chris Jarvis*
This is an excellent photo-reference for this diminutive but
important little tank, and would serve just as well as a coffee
table book or reference book for a modeller, as well as the general
AFV or WWII buff. Highly recommended.
