About the Author

Allan Coleby was originally from Essex, and having lived in Cambridge and Nottingham, he taught English in a variety of secondary schools and colleges in Humberside and the north Midlands. He then became a Project Manager for Pearson, working in assessment and international publishing. Having had 15 Educational books and one novel published, he retired to north Norfolk and lived near the Royal estate at Sandringham. He researched, for a local magazine, that area's connections with the First World War, especially in the Gallipoli campaign. That led to a consuming interest in the characters of King George V and Queen Mary, and the discoveries he made culminated in the writing of The First Windsors.
