Iain Ayre has written two previous guides to British Cobra replicas. He writes about extreme-performance cars for Kit Car magazine (UK) and Kit Car Builder (USA), and recently published The Kitcar Manual. He has written two major books on TVR, and others on slower cars such as Ferraris, Maseratis, and Porsches. He built his first kit car in the 1980s, and his first Cobra replica in the 1990s - a Cobretti with Jaguar axles and a Chevrolet V8. His second Cobra was a budget V8 upgrade as recommended in British Cobra Replicas. He is currently developing a new Ayrspeed Cobra replica, an outrageous turbocharged 450bhp, ultralight Mazda-based street and track car.
