About the Author

F.D. Richard Hobbs is Professor and Head of Primary Care Clinical Sciences at the University of Birmingham and Director of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) National School for Primary Care Research. He has numerous publications to his name, including over 290 papers for peer-reviewed journals. His research interests focus on cardiovascular epidemiology and clinical trials, especially relating to heart failure and stroke. Richard J. McManus is Professor of Primary Care Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Birmingham. His research interests lie mainly in cardiovascular disease, with publications on the management of chest pain, electronic blood pressure measurement, stroke management and self-monitoring in hypertension. Clare J. Taylor is an NIHR In-Practice Fellow at the University of Birmingham with an interest in cardiovascular research. Her research focuses on the prognosis of patients with heart failure and the management of atrial fibrillation.
