Nicolas-Edme Retif or Nicolas-Edme Restif (23 October 1734 -- 3 February 1806), also known as Retif de la Bretonne, was a French novelist who wrote numerous volumes of literary pornography, and had a notorious rivalry with the Marquis de Sade. A famous sexologist who discovered the manuscript to Sade's "120 Days Of Sodom" in 1904.
