This is a fascinating book that should be read by everyone with an interest in the future of our planet and a mind that is not totally closed to new ideas. The author examines in detail the evidence for global warming, or climate change as it is now described. While accepting that there is evidence of change, he shows that human influence is very small and that natural causes predominate. But it is his analysis of the reasons why the idea of warming has been pushed so relentlessly that makes the book so important. If you wonder why carbon credits are necessary, why they will cost us all so much, and who will benefit, read this book for the possible, and I would say probable, answers. If nothing else, it will make you think. There are those, of course, who would prefer to do your thinking for you, but I highly recommend that you buy, borrow or steal this book and use it as a basis for your own ideas. Even if you disagree with its premise, it's a great read.

Air Con is a very interesting and thought-provoking read and showcases the skills of a talented investigative journalist (sadly there are too few of his kind left today and much of what we get in our news media is a regurgitation of manipulative media releases rather than analysis). Apart from presenting a strong case against the assertion of "man-made global warming" and highlighting many of the elements contributing to natural climate change, Wishart also delves into the manner in which this issue has been manipulated for political and commercial gain. The public really should be asking more questions, and given more answers, before our economies are subjected to the shock of new legislation that cynically proposes to change a process - the changing climate - over which mankind has virtually no control. I hope someone put this in Penny Wong and Kevin Rudd's Christmas stocking because all politicians should read it!

An Excellent read - well done Ian Wishart! I guess the critics of this book - or Alarmists would indeed be alarmed by what is revealed in this expose - this has confirmed much of what I had always suspected regarding this whole debate on AGW. After doing further reading on the issues it is heartening to see that the truth is slowly but inexorably making it's presence known in a world going mad. To quote (Charles Mackay) "Men think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly and one by one".

I have been studying "climate change" - otherwise known as man-made global warming - for quite a few years. I have read many books and papers on it. This book is probably the best I have read for the lay reader. It concentrates on presenting the evidence in an objective manner. It is a first-class piece of investigative journalism.
I was a speaker at the launch of Gareth Morgan's book "Poles Apart" at Parliament house. Garth's book is not near as good because it is overlaid with Gareth's opinions rather than objectively examining the evidence. But even Gareth agrees that "the science is not settled".
Anyone who has read Gareth's book must also read "Air Con".

This book is incredibly poorly written and fails to grasp even the basic science around Climate Change.
I found it difficult to read due to the authors writing style and, when researching the claims and theories laid out by this book, I could only find thorough debunking of the talking points used.
Wishart has a reputation as blinker-visioned and removed from reality and is rightfully ignored in scientific circles.

This book is a muddled confusing mess. I slogged through most of it, but found myself constantly distracted by the game of trying to decide whether Wishart honestly misunderstands the underlying science of climate change or dishonestly chooses to misrepresent it. Chapter 16, appropriately titled ‘The Real Agenda’, provided the answer. Both options are correct. The book is simply a chance for Wishart to tie a barrow he has apparently been pushing for some time now, to a current hot topic. The main message of the book is that big business, the UN and all “greenies” are joined in a conspiracy to control our every move. Climate change is just the tool they are using, and therefore accuracy and clarity about it are unimportant.
Don’t expect to learn anything about climate change from this book but it does provide a look into the swirling, angry tempest that exists in the mind of a conspiracy theorist.
