  • VICTORY SONGS is Robert Crenshaw's second album. Throughout much of the '80s he was the drummer in his brother Marshall's successful combo. Though he sings in a slightly lower register than his brother and has a narrower range, the familial tie is unmistakable. VICTORY SONGS is an exuberant set of catchy pop-rock, played with verve and commitment.
  • Jamie Hoover, who assisted on much of Crenshaw's previous release, produced much of the album (he's also recorded numerous Beatle-inflected albums with his band The Spongetones). Also appearing on a couple tracks are Marti Jones and Don Dixon. Most of the songs are by Robert, with two by yet another Crenshaw brother, John. Closing the set is a rousing live version of "Shakin' Street" by fellow Detroit-natives the MC5.
