  • One of the most successful acts in the history of Christian music, Point of Grace matches inspirational lyrics with pop sounds as contemporary as any record on the secular charts. Though the quartet is heavily influenced by vocal-harmony-heavy modern R&B of the En Vogue variety, I CHOOSE YOU finds the "girls of grace" fully engaged in the world of modern rock. The title track sports a Matchbox Twenty-worthy soaring chorus, backed by heavy six-string riffs and a driving rhythm section. The strumming acoustic guitar and tinkling piano of "Worthless" recall the melancholy roots-pop of Train and Counting Crows, while "Do It Again" sports a hip-hop-inspired rhythm and sassy vocal performances reminiscent of Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch. Masters of feel-good radio fare with an often explicitly religious bent, the Point of Grace girls show that it can tackle just about any pop style with equal fervor.
