  • When lead screamer Ben Perri left From Autumn to Ashes during the recording of HOLDING A WOLF BY THE EARS, it was anyone's guess how the band would proceed. Fortunately, drummer Francis Mark stepped up to the plate to assume all vocal duties (Mark's vocal interplay with Perri had long been an integral part of the outfit's sound). Remarkably, From Autumn to Ashes doesn't sound that different here, with Mark's lead singing fitting nicely into the overall fabric of the band. That said, HOLDING A WOLF delivers the crunching, melody-minded hardcore FATA is known for, with as good a batch of songs, performances, and overall bone-rattling impact as any of their efforts.
Professional Reviews
Spin (p.87) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[They] churn out the kind of thrashcore riffs that even the most cynical metal fan could headbang along to approvingly."

Alternative Press (p.154) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Scorched-earth screams and machine-gun bass-drum stabs anchor the sound in hardcore chaos..."

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.47) - "FATA come out swinging....They've simply never sounded so wild, so dangerous. The title sums up exactly how the record feels."
