An album from the Yazoo line of Shanachie dealing with fiddle music from Poland. The recordings were made in 1929 and 1950, and the sound quality makes this apparent in some cases. The music is performed relatively well, given the genre. To the uninitiated, this music may be rather grating in many cases -- for that matter, it may be somewhat grating even to the initiated. Some albums have their purpose in preserving the cultural traditions of a form of music, with less emphasis on the purely aesthetic value of it. This may be one of those albums (though perhaps listeners from Poland would disagree). ~ Adam Greenberg
