Originally recorded and released in 1969, BIRTH SIGN is Freeman's debut and an unsung classic of the style. It's got the classic organ/guitar/drums lineup (brother Von's tenor is featured on four track), with plenty of hot and mellow riffs and solid cooking throughout. This SIGN reads: soulful jazz infused with a modern hard bop edge.
