The Acerola cherry comes from a small bush like plant and is native to South America, southern Mexico, and Central America, but is now also being grown as far north as Texas and in subtropical areas of Asia, such as India. The Acerola cherry is similar in appearance to a red cherry, contains over 150 phytonutrients and has high levels of vitamins A, B1, B2 and B3, as well as bioflavins and carotenoids which provide important antioxidant uses. It is also one of the richest sources of vitamin C on the planet.
