Phan Van Giuong was a distinguished professor of Vietnamese
Studies at Victoria University, Melbourne, where he taught English
and Vietnamese since 1965, as well as being the coordinator for the
Vietnamese Language and Culture Studies program at the university's
Faculty of Arts for the past 18 years. Prof. Giuong is the author
of many Vietnamese teaching/learning materials, as well as the
editor for several Vietnamese magazines and newspapers. He was
awarded many medals, including the Order of Australia Medal and the
International Educator of the Year award for his outstanding
contributions to teaching language and culture. He was also active
as a setter and marker for exam papers, such as the International
Baccalaureate (IB) for many years. Prof Giuong is now retired but
continues to teach on a part-time basis.
Nguyen Dinh-Ho a was a distinguished professor of Vietnamese
Studies at San Jose University. He chaired the Department of
English, Faculty of Letters at the University of Saigon from
1957√65; served as a professor of Linguistics and Foreign Languages
and Literatures at Southern Illinois University as well as a
director of the Center for Vietnamese Studies; and wrote many
highly acclaimed Vietnamese publications.
