Richard Overy is Professor of History at the University of Exeter. He has written and edited more than thirty books on war and dictatorship in the 20th century, including `The Bombing War: Europe 1939 to 1945', winner of a Cundill Award for Historical Literature in 2014, `A History of War in 100 Battles', and most recently `The Oxford Illustrated History of World War Two'. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 2001 he was awarded the Samuel Eliot Morrison Prize for his contribution to military history.
