Nancy White
Carlstrom (nancywhitecarlstrom.com) has written more
than fifty books for children, including the Jesse
Bear series with illustrator Bruce Degan. She
draws inspiration from her eighteen years living
in Alaska, volunteer experiences
in Africa and Haiti, and raising
sons Jesse and Joshua.
Ken Kuroi has contributed illustrations to many popular
Japanese books, including Gongitsune (Gong, the Little Fox) by
Nankichi Miimi and Neko no Jimusyo (The Cat Office) by Kenji
Miyazawa. Kuroi’s collaborative works with Nancy Carlstrom,
Swim the Silver Sea, Joshie Otter and Midnight Dance of the
Snowshoe Hare are published in America. In 2003, his gallery,
Ken Kuroi’s Picture Book House, opened, where his work is
constantly displayed.
