About the Author

Blake Charlton is now a proud dyslexic, but as a boy he hated the condition that kept him effectively illiterate. He learned to read fluently by sneaking fantasy novels into seventh grade special-ed study hall. Since then he has been (in no particular order) a JV football coach, a Yale undergraduate, bald, a high school English teacher, a chronically semi-employed writer, a special education advocate, a Stanford medical student. He is currently a senior resident physician in Internal Medicine at the University of California San Francisco. Blake's non-fiction has appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association Internal Medicine, The British Medical Journal, and The New York Times among others. Blake's science fiction short stories have appeared in the Seeds of Change and the Unfettered anthologies. Spellbreaker is his third novel and the final installment of the Spellwright Trilogy.

"I'm fascinated to see what happens next, and will be following every word with the absorption of an apprentice spellwright. You will be, too." --Tad Williams, bestselling author of "Shadowmarch
"Think words can't hurt you? Sometimes, they can kill. The spells of textual magic of this enthralling take will demonstrate how." --Terry Brooks, "New York Times "bestselling author

"An enjoyable, well-written novel, with a satisfying conclusion." "--SFX Magazine", 4.5 stars

"A refreshingly new look at magic and the power of words. Nicodemus is a strong protagonist, but the supporting cast is equally as memorable. This series opener [will] resonate in the reader's mind. Highly recommended." "--Library Journal", starred review

"Spellwright""brims with a love for the genre and a thrill for written language." "--Chicago Sun-Times"

"A well-written and cleverly presented fantasy with strong characters and surprising plot twists, this saga should appeal to those who enjoyed its predecessor as well as fans of Terry Brooks and L. E. Modesitt Jr." --"Library Journal, "starred review "Charlton succeeds brilliantly here; this is no mere setup for the final installment. Absolutely not to be missed." --"Kirkus Reviews, "starred review ""Spellbound" is an adventure fantasy filled with mystery, interesting characters and a unique world that mixes the fantasy cliches so many of us know and love, with a brand new feel that is purely Charlton." --"Bookworm Blues" ""Spellbound" is a daring new work of fantasy that pushes the "Spellwright" trilogy closer to its conclusion while remaining just as emotionally and intellectually challenging as the first installment." --"Rob Will Review" """The story is loaded with interesting characters, a story that works well and that comes unexpectedly at points, and a world that is worth returning to often."
--"Worlds in a Grain of Sand"
