About the Author

J. Rafael Angel is a certified Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction Trainer and Consultant. He is a highly experienced IB Continuum educator (IB PYP, MYP, and DP), IB MYP examiner, IB Workshop leader (Inquiry, Approaches to Teaching and Learning, Assessment, Curriculum, and Language), and has led Teacher Support Material Projects for the IB MYP. He has written for the International Journal of Continuing Engineering Education and Lifelong Learning, and the International Association for Development of the Information Society. He collaborates as a World Language Concept-Based Instruction Specialist in the Lynn Erickson and Lois Lanning's CBCI Summer Institute. Each chapter of the book is linked to a global context and focuses on key and related concepts which are clearly referenced throughout the chapter. Additionally each activity is linked to an ATL skill. In each chapter there are a wide variety of activities using a variety of multi-modal texts plus links to useful resources online. This updated edition also references the new assessment criteria and strands and suggests how the book activities can be used to assess students in each strand, which can help save time when designing formative & summative assessments.
