About the Author

Nothing is known about Marwan Al Wardany, the man who collected and edited the poems contained in the manuscript. His name does not appear in any Arabic literature reference book. He could also be using a pen-name in view of the outrageously sexual language of the poems. In the short introduction of the manuscript, he mentions that he collected the poems from various sources over many years, and edited them, giving them their present titles. However, it is not excluded that he might be the author of the poems himself, especially that certain similarities in ideas and style could be detected in many of the poems.
