Denys Lingard was brought up in Cheshire and was educated at Stockport Grammar School. Resisting family pressure to read Law he approached the editor of a local newspaper whom he persuaded to appoint him as a junior reporter until he was called up into the RAF and 'demobbed' in 1949. New opportunities beckoned in London and he absorbed courses on sales, sales management and the then new concept of marketing. He became national sales manager of quoted company in his thirties and a director before forty. When this company was taken over by a large multi-national organisation his responsibilities grew and his work then entailed a good deal of international travel. His first novel - a mystery thriller "The Beautiful Obsession" was first published in 2012.
