Reviews

'This is a splendid collection that brings together the best contemporary work on republicanism and democracy. It offers stimulating republican reflections on populism, the common good, the economy, the workplace, feminism, and transnational politics. All essays, without exception, are first rate. Rich, sophisticated, as well as politically visionary, this is likely to become the definitive collection on republican democracy.' Cecile Laborde, University of Oxford
'Elazar and Rousseliere have produced a book that features not only most of the leading neo-republican thinkers but also some of their most penetrating, yet sympathetic, critics. The result is a volume that should convince anyone who cherishes democracy of the need, practical as well as theoretical, to take republicanism seriously.' Richard Dagger, E. Claiborne Robins Distinguished Chair in the Liberal Arts, University of Richmond
