Graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT and after receiving his Master and PhD, joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering at IIT, Kharagpur. He has over 70 research papers in reputed international journals. He was a senior Fulbright Fellow at the University of Colarado, Boulder, USA. Dr Rau made significant pedagogical contributions by way of several PhD and M Tech thesis and establishment of a BTech (Hons) Programme in Energy Engineering at IIT, Kharagpur. He is currently engaged in freelance academic and renewable energy consultations.
